STL President Antonio Cassese and Vice-President Ralph Riachy Visit Lebanese Government Officials
Beirut, 1 February 2010 – President Antonio Cassese and Vice-President Riachy had meetings today with H.E. Michel Sleiman, President of the Republic, H.E. Ali Al-Chami, Minister of Foreign Affairs and H.E. Ibrahim Najjar, Minister of Justice.
During the meetings the President expressed his thanks for the excellent cooperation given to the STL by the Government of Lebanon and offered his assurance that the Tribunal would continue to work in accordance with the highest standards of justice.
On the occasion of the meeting with the Minister of Justice, the President and the Vice-President discussed specific ways to facilitate cooperation between STL and the Lebanese authorities.
The President and Vice-President’s official visits will continue tomorrow with meetings scheduled with H.E. Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Ghaleb Ghanem, President of the Cour de Cassation and Mr. Said Mirza, Chief Prosecutor of the Court of Cassation.
