Press Office
The policy of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon is to assist the media in understanding the functions of the Special Tribunal and the judicial process, including:
- To educate and inform the public about the mandate, role and function of the Special Tribunal and the legal system under which it operates;
- To establish a communications structure to inform the public about Special Tribunal-related developments;
- To provide news media with information needed to ensure transparent, fair, complete and accurate reporting on the Tribunal;
- To assist news media representatives to carry out their responsibilities to inform the public while preserving the confidentiality of certain operational aspects of the Special Tribunal's work, and
- To accommodate media coverage without disruption to Special Tribunal proceedings.
Media Center
The STL has set up a Media Centre for the use of the press.
The Media Centre is equipped with the following facilities:
· TV screens on which the hearing will be broadcast with a 30-minute delay;
· Wi-Fi internet access (access information will be provided upon request at the Tribunal’s reception);
· Recording facilities: the Court will provide a feed from the Courtroom to the hot-desk area of the Media Centre. The tables in the Media Centre contain plugs for video and audio feeds from the courtroom (4:3, PAL, Standard Definition): BNC video output and XLR audio output. You can record from four possible audio channels: 1 - floor, 2 – French, 3 – English, 4 – Arabic. Each table contains audio and video sockets and power plugs using European sockets with 230 Volts AC.
Please note that the Tribunal does not provide computers or external phone connections.
Feed for the Satellite News Gathering Trucks
An outside hook-up point will be provided to allow SNG equipment to be connected. Feeds will be available in 4:3, PAL, Standard Definition. Connections will be BNC video output and XLR audio output with four possible audio channels: 1 - floor, 2 – French, 3 – English, 4 – Arabic. Please note that there is no power supply available at the car park. There is also no audio/video connectivity between the press briefing room and the outside hook-up point.
Photography
Please note that it will not be possible to take photos in the courtroom. Photos of the proceedings will be provided through a media pool. Full details will be provided in due course.
Valuable items
There is a possibility to store valuable items in safe boxes inside the Media Centre. Details will be provided on request.
Parking facilities and access
STL is not in a position to provide parking facilities for media representatives.
The Media Centre will be open from 09:00-17:30 Monday-Friday or until one hour after the conclusion of all Special Tribunal sessions.
Access to the Media Centre is restricted to accredited journalists with valid STL accreditation cards.

Forms
Join the STL Media Contact List: Send the STL Press Office your contact details, including the agency with which you are associated and you will be added to the press office distribution list. There is no charge for this service and all members of the media are welcome to join.
Media Accreditation Form (Currently under development): A valid STL media accreditation card will be required for access to the Media Center. Accredited media will also qualify for assigned seating in the public gallery and during press briefings.
Request Public Records of Proceedings (Currently under development): Public Audio and Video copies of court proceedings are available though the STL Press Office. There is no charge for this service; however requesters will be required to provide their own storage media (DVD-R, Flash Drive, etc etc). Public copies of the proceedings will also be available in streaming video and audio in the Audio Visual section of this website.
